"Mongol" delves into the dramatic and harrowing early years of Genghis Khan, who was born as Temudgin in 1162. As it follows Temudgin from his perilous childhood to the battle that sealed his destiny, the film paints a multidimensional portrait of the future conqueror, revealing him not as the evil brute of hoary stereotype, but as an inspiring, fearless and visionary leader. "Mongol" shows us the making of an extraordinary man, and the foundation on which so much of his greatness rested: his relationship with his wife, Borte, his lifelong love and most trusted advisor.

I went to the movie with high expectations, however, I was disappointed as it was historically very inaccurate, its storyline and plots did not flow. Not only the whole story of Chenghis Khan and Mongols misrepresented, its story and time lines were quite altered. With good knowledge of Mongolian language and history, I can firmly say that most conservations in Mongolian were incomprehensible, as all the main roles played by non-Mongolian actors (Chinese, Japanese, Kazakh etc). Their Mongolian had very heavy accents or it was just some weird noise. Various Mongolian dialects were used simultaneously, Father, son, wife all spoke very different dialects, and it was very weird. Mongols are not afraid of thunder, the scenes were very comical. Beautiful throat singing was portrayed as savage roar of barbaric Mongols. Actually there was no proper throat singing in this film, just the mockery of throat singing. I'm afraid it'll give audience a wrong idea about what throat singing is.

However, I have to say that there were many impressive visuals, and its exaggerated battle scenes will impress the general audiences. The film is quite entertaining in that sense.

If you want to know the real and accurate story, read "The Secret History of the Mongols".

Story of Chengis Khan is rich and beautiful, there were many movies made about Chenghis Khan, but this one is unfortunately one of the worst and the best at the same time.
